I started drawing when I was 5 years old. There hasn't been a time since I was a little kid that I don't remember not being into art. I've always loved drawing and creating things, and was always encouraged to do so. Born in Los Angeles, grew up in Pomona, went to college and received my degrees (in art naturally) from Mt. I've always loved drawing and creating things, and was always encouraged to do so. Born in Los Angeles, grew up in Pomona, went to college and received my degrees (in art naturally) from Mt. San Antonio College and Cal State University Fullerton. I work at refining my artwork and framing in some aspect everyday.
I create using a variety of mediums and styles in different themes. I make mixed media and assemblage pieces, illustrations, paintings, murals, chalk murals and paper mache pieces with, including but not limited to: acrylic, watercolor, oils, ink, colored pencil, pastel, markers, different types of papers, and found objects . I'm also a custom picture framer with over 28 years of experience. I take liberties with framing my own work so that it is an extension of the artwork itself.
As creating the work itself is exciting and fun, the final framing of it is also as exciting. I can take artistic liberties and get as creative as I want with my own work. I look for frames that are unusual, in their shape, size, finish, flourish, whatever it may be. Many times, I'll let those elements of a frame influence the creation
As creating the work itself is exciting and fun, the final framing of it is also as exciting. I can take artistic liberties and get as creative as I want with my own work. I look for frames that are unusual, in their shape, size, finish, flourish, whatever it may be. Many times, I'll let those elements of a frame influence the creation of an art piece. I sand, paint, stain, adhere and imbed objects, epoxy, and/or glaze my frames so that they are part of the artwork. I love bright and unusual colors and color combinations, glitter, and creating my own ornaments to add to a frame. I mount my artwork in unusual ways, so that the work stands out. I stretch fabrics and combine different matting as backgrounds and borders within the frames. I've even etched designs in the glass in my frames to emphasize a certain element(s) in a piece of artwork. Truly the possibilities are endless.
